Duhyoung Kim / Dudu

Media Artist,  Translator, Korean teacher
born in Gyeongju, South Korea and now based in Cologne.

Sounds come from sources, flow with materials, are reflected by surroundings and have different recipients.
In this process I sense those and feel responsible for their journey.

Since my early embarrassing work, Race, I try to find ways to be a good listener and work for it.
For me, being a good listener also means considering the political dimensions and questions of rights that emerge in sounds, in their movement, and in their effects.

I listen to noises, make noises, and share those with participants with diverse artistic forms.
Such as games, instructions, installations, workshops, or compositions.

Here’s the score

This is a musical score of listening to the surroundings and has been written on space and noise. From the large exhibition space to the cozy lounge, the old stairs, the narrow corridor, from the wood door to the iron door, and the further way outside. From there, this can be developed by the listeners on their own.
musical score on paper, 17.3 x 29.7cm, “take me”, Assembly house in Leeds, 2023
